Program Highlights

CONNECTION INSPECTION & EARTHWALK

If there are two classes they will be split up and going on two separate walks. The activity will take about 75 mins. It is important that the teachers are there for the walk to help with any behavioral issues and to participate in the learning experience so that any lesson extensions can be designed for back at school.

ACTIVITY CENTERS

Activity centers are led by the adult volunteers (parents, grandparents, school staff, etc.) who come on the field trip, not Cooper staff. Activity Centers need to be selected prior to your visit and communicated to the Cooper Center’s Staff so we can prepare your supplies. This will also give the adult volunteer teaching the Centers the time to prepare with a lesson plan. Cooper Staff are happy to help run of the Activity Centers and may be able to have community partners run another center as well.

CABINS & CAMPFIRES

After a full day of outdoor experiences, students are ready for dinner and activities around the campfire.  Camp Cooper's amphitheater and firepit provide the perfect venue for stories, songs, stargazing and of course, s'mores.  Dinner can be coordinated and prepared by teachers and parent volunteers, or can be catered by TUSD for a per person fee.
